Only Good for Dating - Crêpes de Paris

Few days ago I was asking my co-worker for where I can eat crepes; he told me that there was a restaurant named Crepes de Paris at Irvine Diamond Plaza, so I decided to give it a try tonight.

However, it was not a happy experience.

When I was driving into the plaza and stopped at a stop sign, there was a Toyota Prius on my right side stopping at the same time; I was hesitating if I should have let her go first (this usually happens if two people were stopping their cars at stop sign at the same time); she finally took it first and gave me a dirty look before she left. Well, it's not a big deal but I'd started to feel unhappy before eating.

Although I was early to come (5 p.m.), the parking lot was almost full and hard for me to find a space.

Before going into the restaurant, I noticed that there were so many people waiting for buying breads from 85 Degree as usual.

It was just 5pm, so there was only one customer with two kids in the restaurant. This was the first time for me to eat at a French dessert restaurant. I wasn't happy about their menu on the wall; there was no photos but texts; how do I know what I want to order without looking pictures?

Anyways, it just took me a minute to decide what to order. Unlike most of restaurants, you had to pay first. After getting my receipt, I felt strange about paying tips; I asked the waiter should I pay the tip first or later? He told me either way is fine. The reason why I asked that was because it would be reasonable to pay later after I had my food and observe how good their service is.

It was so cold tonight and I don't know why the waiter didn't close the door so that I was sitting there to wait my food while I had to stand the cold air from outside. Besides, there was a kid keeping crying and her mom didn't know how to stop it; I started to feel not comfortable to eat there.

I didn't asked the waiter but I wish that he would give me a hot water, not an ice water during such a cold night.

There was a good thing about the waiter. He asked me should they give me the two crepes at the same time or save the other until I finished the first one. Of course the second choice, the other crepe would get cold if I was eating the first one.

The waiter asked me if
I wanted an ice cream on
the top of the crepe. Well,
thanks but no because I
didn't want to eat it at
such a cold night.

The first dish was Paris Special Crepe, which was a savory crepe with chicken, mushroom and black olive inside and cheese and garlic cream sauce on the top. It tasted really good with the thin pancake. However, I was just 40% full after eating this so that this was just like an appetizer for me.

The second one was Favored Crepe, which was a sweet crepe with strawberries inside and a little sugar powder and cream on the top. This dish was just so-so and it cost me $6.95; honestly, for me it's only worth five bucks.

The total was $20, including $2 tips. I wasn't expecting low prices in this restaurant opening at Irvine Diamond Plaza; but $20 was way too much just for two crepes, don't you think?

I guess that's the way it is. If you like a restaurant, you will be happy to visit it anytime; if, on the other hand, you don't like it (the food sucks, lousy services, too expensive, etc), don't freakin' bother to go next time!

Okay, my suggestion for you about this restaurant is this: Go there if you have a date. I don't know if it's true: they say most of women cannot resist desserts especially tasty French ones!

My rating: 3/5

PS: Next time maybe I should buy a camera to take my own pictures for blog use.
